The Most Amazing Playground Ever

It’s probably not the most amazing playground ever built, but it tops our list of favorites. I’m talking about Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek. What makes it so amazing? I’m glad you asked.

Heather Farm Park sits in the Mt. Diablo foothills, which casts an amazing view for us small fries below. This 102-acre preserve boasts a fabulous playground, a swimming complex, dog park, sports fields, and skate park. Sitting directly behind the playground are the Gardens at Heather Farm (more about that in a minute.)

I’ve found the playground to be in immaculate condition. The play space is expansive, with a toddler/preschooler play structure for ages 2-5, as well as a large play structure for the 5+ crew. There are also swing sets (including some for those with special needs,) tunnels to climb through and on top of, bouncy chairs, hills to slide down, a rock climbing wall, and a large sandbox with water feature. The playground has many shaded areas, along with generous seating. The park itself sits far enough back from the road that you need not worry about your children running out before you can catch them.

Immediately beside the playground sits a beautiful pond with water fountain, along with ducks who love to beg for food (please note, there are signs kindly asking you not feed them…despite how cute and convincing these ducks may be.) Also, be sure to take a stroll through the free gardens behind the pond. The views are stunning, and the walk through nature will give a much needed break after play time.
