My husband has been working long hours this month. Instead of staying cooped up in our house, Beckham and I are committed to exploring! The Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society held their annual railroad show a few weekends back, and let me tell you – this is an impressive setup! I have no clue if model railroads of this size exist elsewhere around the country, or are somewhat unique to California. Thus far, we’ve visited both the Richmond and Walnut Creek model railroads. The amount of work that goes into these are phenomenal! It’s an unique, quirky hobby that I can appreciate with a young son myself. The cost of admission is next to nothing ($3 for ages 13+, $2 for children 6-12 and seniors, free for children under 6.) We had a great time scouring the tracks for trains, tunnels, buildings, animals, people, you name it – you may just find it! Pair this with Larkey Park in their back yard, and you have a fun adventure! Also, you’ll find easy, free, plentiful parking along the street.
